Car accidents more likely when drivers break traffic laws

New York traffic laws are in place for a reason. When drivers follow these rules, the roadways typically remain safe avenues for travel. However, some drivers do not heed the warning signs and cause car accidents. One man was recently injured in a collision because another driver failed to follow the rules of the road.

According to police reports, the accident occurred when one driver attempted to pass another in a no passing zone. The driver allegedly responsible tried to pass a car headed northbound and struck the vehicle of the victim, who was traveling south, head-on. After the initial impact, the first car then left the road and hit a utility pole.

The victim was injured in the crash, though his injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital via ambulance. The driver of the car that hit the victim’s suffered serious injuries and is currently listed as in critical but stable condition after being airlifted to the hospital.

The injured victim in the southbound vehicle likely has grounds to file a personal injury claim against the driver considered at fault. If his claim is successful, he may be awarded monetary damages to help pay the cost of medical bills and any other financial losses related to the collision. Any New York residents injured in car accidents could benefit from speaking with an experienced personal injury attorney to learn more about filing claims. In addition to providing more information, an attorney could also assist in filing a lawsuit and provide guidance and support throughout the claims process.
