New York slip-and-fall accidents: Tennis pro seeking damages

Slipping, falling and suffering injuries can negatively affect one's life -- personally and professionally. Eugenie Bouchard, a tennis pro, found this out when she was hurt after slipping and falling in the locker room at the 2015 U.S. Open which was hosted at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens. She has filed legal claims in a New York civil court and is now seeking damages for her losses. Slip-and-fall accidents are no joke and those hurt in such incidents may, like Ms. Bouchard, seek relief through legal means.

According to a recent news report, Eugenie Bouchard's case is currently being heard in court. She testified on Feb. 21 that after a tennis match she proceeded to the locker room to take an ice bath. On the way, she slipped on a wet tile floor and hit her head. As a result of the fall, she suffered a significant head injury and concussion. This injury caused her to pull out of the remainder of the tournament and she has struggled with her career ever since.

Legal representatives for the United States Tennis Association claim that the tennis pro should not have been in the locker room without tournament personnel or a trainer. Counsel for the plaintiff claims that the USTA failed to supply proper warning that the floor had just been cleaned and was a slip hazard. Only time will tell how this case comes to a close. The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages.

Numerous New York residents and visitors to the state suffer injuries in slip\-and\-fall accidents every year. If these incidents are the result of property owner negligence, victims may seek compensation for their losses, just as Ms. Bouchard is in the process of doing. Personal injury claims may be filed in civil court against all parties deemed responsible. If litigation is successful, full and fair relief may be awarded.
