Construction accidents can lead to injuries for those involved

The personal safety risks involved in construction work are apparent to most employees. Even with the numerous precautions taken to avoid these risks, construction accidents still happen frequently in New York and around the country. Three workers in another state were recently injured in an accident involving construction equipment.

The accident occurred at a building in a southeastern city’s downtown area that is under construction. When rescuers arrived on the scene, two scissor lifts were on their sides. The lifts appeared to have fallen over somehow, though the cause is unclear. Three construction workers were injured in the fall, however, and the accident remains under investigation.

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue department was called in to extract the injured workers from the fourth floor of the building where they were trapped. They made use of their ladder truck to rescue the employees and stabilize them in stokes baskets before lowering them to the ground via an aerial hydraulic platform. The whole process took a little over an hour. All three workers were then transported to local hospitals.

Though the full extent of their injuries remains unknown, these three workers may consider filing workers’ compensation claims. If their claims are successful, they could be awarded monetary damages that could help cover the cost of their medical bills and lost wages they may incur over the course of their recoveries. Any New York residents injured in construction accidents can confer with experienced workers’ compensation attorneys to learn more about these types of claims and to obtain assistance in filing them.
