When a driver behaves recklessly, they put themselves and others at risk of serious harm and death. Unfortunately, in some cases, reckless driving does result in fatalities.

In a case in Brooklyn, the police believe that reckless driving may have been one of the factors that played a role in the deaths of three people. It’s believed that there were two vehicles performing doughnuts when the two drivers collided, leading to the deaths of an 18-year-old woman, 16-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy.

These three individuals were rushed to the hospital, but they did not survive. Another passenger is still in critical condition, based on the report. Other people involved in the collision fortunately escaped with only minor injuries.

The New York Police Department’s Highway Unit Collision Squad is currently investigating the situation to determine if they should make arrests or if charges are appropriate.

Situations like this one are why street races, tricks and other reckless actions are not legal. Even if it’s all in fun, a simple mistake can end lives or send people to the hospital with serious injuries. If you ever see someone driving recklessly, it’s best to report them and have the police come to the scene because doing so may prevent a crash that leads to a loss of life.

When someone dies in a crash, there is no way to bring them back. No amount of money will replace them, either. Families should still consider filing a claim for compensation. Your attorney can give you more information on the steps to take if you are hurt or lose a loved one in a car crash.
